Origanum compactum, Oil of Oregano

May 14, 2017 By James Leave a Comment

Origanum compactum, Essential Oil of Oregano, is one of two varieties of the mint family

(Lamiaceae) that can be made into oregano oil. The other and most used variety of oregano plants used for the production of essential oregano oil is Origanum vulgare.

The time of year that each variety of mint is harvested extremely affects the carvacrol percentage in the two oils. Origanum vulgare consistently has a higher level of carvacrol.

Much emphasis has been put on what the grade of essential oils are, such as:
Medicinal-grade, Therapeutic-grade, CERTIFIED PURE-grade, Aromatherapy grade, Grade A, etc.
ʻTherapeutic grade’ arose during the 1990ʼs and did not exist prior to that time. It was invented by some very clever marketers who wanted people to believe that their oils were somehow therapeutic grade essential oils and a better grade than all others.

This seal or word mark is nothing more than a commercial trademark that they have registered and paid a fee for. There is no such thing as a ʻtherapeutic gradeʼ or ‘approved’ essential oil, and no quality standards for the authentication of essential oils specifically exist in aromatherapy.”

‘CERTIFIED PURE THERAPEUTIC GRADE’ is a relatively new trademark by a multi-level marketing company. It gives the appearance of being approved by some kind of higher authority. This in actuality is another purchased trademark by another multilevel marketing company. There are no approval authorities in private or the government that set standards for differentiating the quality of essential oils.

GRAS, AFNOR, FMA, ISO, FDA, do not regulate or certify any grades of essential oils.

Even A GC-MS report may fail to reveal the age and quality of an essential oil, particularly in relation to the quality an aromatherapist or a patient is looking for.

‘Internal Use’.
The European growers of essential oils have sold their oils for internal use for hundreds of years, but do not have the money to spend on testing that would declare that their oils can be consumed. The “smooth marketing” executives of multi-level companies have created the false narrative for “internal use” to enable charging as much as five times the market value so their multi-levels of salespeople can each receive a cut from your purchase.
REMEMBER NO AUTHORIZED AGENCY HAS GIVEN THEIR APPROVAL FOR INTERNAL USE OF ANY ESSENTIAL OIL.

‘Not for Internal Use’.This label has become another prerequisite for companies smaller than the 2 multilevel companies that have used millions of dollars to have laboratory tests done so they can say “approved for internal use”.

Dr. Mercola says, “.” I highly recommend adding oregano oil to your arsenal of natural healing tools“.

Oil of Oregano Origanum Vulgare

May 10, 2017 By James Leave a Comment

Origanum vulgare is a flowering plant in the mint family

(Lamiaceae). Oregano oil is derived from two members of the mint family, Origanum vulgare and Origanum compactum. Origanum vulgare is the most common but Origanum compactum is highly sought after and usually more costly as it is mostly wild harvested from the mountains of Spain and Greece.

The ancient Greeks and Romans had a profound appreciation for oregano oil, using it for various aromatherapy and medicinal uses. After the Roman occupation of Greece, the Romans adopted the use of oregano oil and were responsible for the extensive spread and use of this oil all over Europe and Asia. The cultivated oregano herb found itself grown from China to the Middle East. The Chinese used oregano oil primarily for medicinal purposes. Oil of oregano found popularity in United States, after veterans of World War II returned home with samples and remedies.
The essential oil of oregano is obtained by steam distillation of the flowering tops from this potent mint plant that grows wild mainly in Cypress and Turkey on the Mediterranean mountainsides including Spain, Germany, Netherlands and Hungary. The cultivation of Origanum vulgare has made it assessable worldwide.
Origanum vulgare H. is the botanic name for the Wild oregano with the pink flower and no flavor. Hirtum means hairy.

Oregano herbs and oregano oil have been used in folk medicine for over 4000 years,

including by the Father of Medicine, Hippocrates. Oregano essential oil is extracted from the flowers and leaves of the oregano plant using a proprietary steam process. Although the oregano oil may be used as a dietary supplement, the government agencies proclaim that 4000 years of use is not enough clinical evidence and clinical proof of any effect on human health so they can decree that it is a valid remedy. (We are certain that Big Pharma will continue to lobby against any supplement that they cannot demand that it be prescribed by a doctor, so they can control the substance and get you to pay them instead of doing as our ancestors have for four thousand years…

Dr. Ingram Cass is considered the leading authority on the “uses of oil of oregano”. In his book, The Cure is in the Cupboard. Dr. Cass describes the oil of oregano as “one of those rare substances that can alter the course of history. It possesses dependable anti-infective powers; in other words, if a contagious infection develops, oil of wild oregano is one of the few substances known that will produce consistent positive results.”
Dr.Cass’ book also “reports that the oil has been tested against aggressive germs, including the cold, flu and even bird flu viruses. In all cases the wild oregano oil destroyed the viruses. In tissue culture the wild oregano oil virtually completely destroyed the human coronavirus, a 99.9% kill, in a mere 20 minutes. The coronavirus is the microbe responsible for nearly 50% of the infections diagnosed as the common cold or pneumonia and is solely responsible for SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). The destruction of the influenza A and bird flu viruses was nearly as complete, a 99% kill. This is an impressive result, which has never been achieved by any drug.”

Christopher Brown, M.D., formerly with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), reviewed the extensive literature on the oil of oregano’s ability to eliminate a host of bacteria and viruses and developed studies to confirm or deny origanum vulgare’s efficacy in eliminating P. acnes. When the results of these tests were conclusive that it had a definitive effect on P. acnes, Dr. Brown designed a series of laboratory tests to be conducted to measure the effects of oil of oregano on Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus, MRSA and P. acnes.

Dr. Brown’s research results showed that the oregano-based compounds outperformed the best of traditional antibiotic medications, demonstrating the capacity to destroy the bacteria.

His results are substantiated by the following results published by many research institutions nationally and internationally.

“The body of positive evidence for oregano oil as a major antibiotic has grown

considerably and continues to grow. Among 52 plant oils tested, oregano was considered to have “pharmacologic” action against common bugs such as Candida albicans (yeast), E. coli, Salmonella enterica and Pseudomonas aeruginosa [Journal of Applied Microbiology, Vol. 86, June 1999].
British researchers published a report in Journal of Applied Microbiology showing that oregano oil had antibacterial activity against 25 different bacteria [Vol. 88, February 2000]. The findings of a separate Italian clinical study in Phytotherapy Research showed that oil of oregano can treat intestinal parasites [Vol. 14, May 2000].
Researchers at the Department of Food Science at the University of Tennessee reported similar results in the Journal of Food Protection that, among various plant oils, oil of oregano exhibited the greatest antibacterial action against common pathogenic germs such as staph, E. coli and Listeria [Vol. 64, July 2001].
Georgetown University Medical Center’s Dr. Harry G. Preuss, M.D., led a study of oregano oil in 2001, and found that relatively low doses of oregano oil inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus bacteria as effectively as the standard antibiotics streptomycin, penicillin and vancomycin. Staphylococcus bacteria is responsible for a variety of severe infections and is becoming increasingly resistant to many antibiotics.”
The oregano plants are harvested only when the Carvacrol, (a phenol that attributes most of the health benefits, with beneficial antioxidant effects) is at its highest levels, optimally at or above 80%. These healing phytochemical compounds or phenols called Carvacrol have powerful antimicrobial properties that have been shown to assist breaking through the outer cell membranes that help protect bacteria in your immune system. Carvacrol (antimicrobial properties) and Thymol (a natural fungicide with antiseptic properties) make the oil appear golden yellow to dark amber, with an ardent spicy odor.

Dr. Axe says, “The number one way oil of oregano is used today is to treat fungi and candida. …oregano oil benefits are proving to be superior to some antibiotics, without the harmful side effects.”

In Europe, Origanum vulgare has been used to alleviate Urinary tract infections (UTIs Origanum vulgare), sinus infections, gum disease, yeast infections, and kill parasites, for thousands of years.

Origanum vulgare contains , 26 antiviral elements, 41 antibacterial elements, 26 antifungal elements, 31 anti-inflammatory elements and 6 antiparasitic elements effective against Candida, athlete’s foot, influenza, colds, Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus, MRSA, and internal parasites. It includes 28 antioxidant, contains 22 antiseptic elements that provide relief for bites, abrasions and sore throats. Oregano oil also has 4 COX-2 inhibitor elements, 6 immunostimulant elements, which have an anti-inflammatory effect for brain function and which are important in preventing disease.

Essential oil of oregano also has several alternate uses. It is made up primarily of carvacrol. The leaves of the plant contain a variety of antioxidant compounds, such as rosmarinic acid. Origanum vulgare contains 49 phytoelements with medicine-like results in preventing and reversing illness and disease within 9 areas of the body.

Essential Oil Uses

February 1, 2017 By James Leave a Comment

Essential Oil uses can be traced back more than 4,000 years.

Aromatherapy and Oils were born out of herbal medicine, a tradition of at least 5,000 years originating in ancient China.
From Egypt to Macedonia, Israel to Italy, Persia to France and eventually the rest of the world, essential oils have a long history and an overachieving caseload.
The ancient Greeks and Romans loved perfumery and essential oils and later discovered they could be used medicinally as well as aromatically.
The chemical constituents in essential oils have been found to have many health benefits from their antiviral, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial, properties to their ability to stop headaches, reduce pain, reduce stress, anxiety, promote sleep, and regulate hormones, lower rates of depression, aid in wound care, boost fertility, and hundreds more uses including bug repellant, body lotions and shampoo.
Creating salves, creams and household cleaning recipes can create safe and most effective preventative health measures. When Big Pharma made it an offense to recommend cherries, garlic, carrots, wheat grass, and herbal tea, to remedy or treat maladies, then suddenly any supplement or essential oil was thrown under the bus and the “Free Voice” was accused of prescribing and diagnosing without a license!
So to be sure there is no misunderstanding, this post is a report of historical facts and claims in the public domain including the internet and any statement herein is not to be misconstrued as a prescription or diagnosis.
Men and women were given a gift by our Creator, that big Pharma works daily to steal from us by sending the FDA to regulate our supplements, restrict our use of essential oils, and even force us to get their approval for the making of handmade soap, (Lye and oil) so that Big Pharma can get a “cut” through regulation of our God given Rights!
Genesis 1:19 “I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of the Earth, and every tree, in which is a tree yielding tree; to it shall it be for meat.”
Psalm 104:14 “He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, and the herb for the service of man.”
Exodus 30:34 “Take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum; these sweet spices with pure frankincense: of each shall there be a like weight.” “This shall be an holy anointing oil unto me throughout your generations.”
Revelation 22:2 “…and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”
Now its time to say that each individual’s body has tolerances and objections to difference outside influences such as foods, allergies, and oils, etc. However there are no hospitalization and deaths attributed vegetables and essential oils. On the other hand Big Pharma advertises continually for us to ask our Doctors for prescription Drugs that have side effects of DEATH, and like sheep to the slaughter we do.
VERY FEW WILL CALL THEIR SENATOR AND CONGRESSPERSON TO OBJECT TO FDA REGULATION OF OILS AND SUPPLEMENTS (vitamins and Minerals.) THAT WAS GIVEN TO US AS A GIFT from the architect of the Universe, and now taken away by 535 men and women that can be paid for their vote under the table.
Essential Oils were referenced in the Dead Sea Scrolls, in Chinese manuscripts, are mentioned over 400 times in the Bible, and were even used to combat the bubonic plague as well as during the time of the ancient Egyptians as medicine.
These remedies are not just Colloquial recantations, legends, voodoo, wives’ tales but millennium used, tried and tested components of healing used by the greatest healers of all time.
There are more than 163 studies on the chemo-preventative, anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving properties of acids contained in Frankincense oil (which is ironically used in both Middle Eastern and European hospitals).

Scientific studies show that these clinically proven herbal alternatives are safe with no side effects.

The Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Charité – University Medicine Berlin showed Lavender oil significantly reduced agitation, anxiety, and depression. The International Journal of Neuropsychopharmacology showing the same results and another from International Journal and Psychiatry for anxiety, depression.
The Australian aborigines have been using tea tree oil for centuries to heal cuts, wounds, and skin infections.
American Academy of Family Physicians Journal review of five clinical trials showed that peppermint oil significantly relieved IBS symptoms like pain, stool frequency, and gas.
Studies on Oregano oil reveal that the cancer-causing poison aflatoxin produced by certain fungi can be completely neutralized by oil of oregano. (field corn and peanuts are the two foods most likely to carry aflatoxin.
Studies show that Clove oil is effective at inhibiting the growth of mycotoxin (Aspergillus), that promotes various diseases that kill about 600,000 people worldwide each year. Lemon oil prevents carcinogenic oral strep. A Korean government funded a study on Ylang Ylang showing it could reduce high cortisol levels and high blood pressure. Neroli has been shown to increase sex drive and relieve menopausal symptoms.
There are hundreds more studies and dozens more oils that have health benefits.

At a time when a small business is not allowed to sell you raw milk, natural organic vegetables and fruit, (like cherries and carrots) with the suggestion that they could have some protective health benefit, or sell you handmade soap that has no artificial perfumes or harsh man made chemicals because FDA hasn’t approved the bar, the manufacturer or the owner,

then I would expect you to be surprised at this government over-reach of power. History shows that the FDA comes into these businesses like a “drug raid” (full s.w.a.t. attire) and seize all inventory, computers and arrest the owners, (farmers, health food stores, internet shops, and small businesses of every description, putting them out of business on the spot as most don’t have the reserves to restock…

For the sake of full disclosure, vitamins, minerals and oils are not the silver bullet, the magic cure all or a quick-fix. These are not a substitute for making smart decisions and for living a healthy lifestyle. These choices are ours from the foundation of creation. No man or legislature should steal these healthy alternative gifts from us!
We should be allowed to use these alternatives to mandatory prescriptions while the mainstream masses are waiting for the one-pill-cures-all that will never exist and is looking to “prevent” disease with hazardous wastes, or wipe out their immune system with antibiotics…
The recent resurgence of essential oils uses—concentrated plant-based liquids used for their aromatic, healing, or cleansing properties is not synonymous to health food nuts but rather to a growing group of self-educated people that are finally realizing that Big Pharma is poisoning us to death, and the sooner they get a doctor to prescribe medications to us the sooner we will be addicted to growing their money machine!
These oils are championed as natural remedies, appealing to homeopaths, organic shoppers, young moms, awakened baby boomers and millennials alike.
The trend for essential oils has quadrupled in the last three years as their uses in aromatherapy, cosmetics, healthcare, and cleaning products, grew to a $3 billion global industry. . Increasing demand for fragrances/flavors in food & beverages and personal car applications in aromatherapy coupled with demand for high nutrition diet, has essential oil trend exceeding all prognostications for the growth of this industry.
The Europe essential oil trend holds the prominent market share, owing to growing demand for medicines, nutraceuticals, rising awareness and natural cosmetics and beauty products. USA is the close runner-up.
Essential oils have been used by numerous cultures for thousands of years as an effective and safe way to treat and prevent a number of ailments and discomforts, as well as provide relief from stress and mental clarity. In this regard, essential oils literally carry the best customer testimonials of all time!
Essential oil trend is not a passing fad. The ancient Egyptians and Romans, recorded medicinal texts written within the same time frame surfacing from the Far East on a papyrus scroll dating back to 1500 BC was recently uncovered by archaeologists, containing multiple lists of uses for essential oils for personal use and within the household.
Throughout the reign of China’s Huang Ti between 2697-2597 BCE, the famous “Yellow Emperor’s Book of Internal Medicine” (a book widely referred to by Eastern medicine practitioners today), featuring the combinations and uses of a variety of essential oils.
French physicians in the late 19th century conducted laboratory tests concerning the anti-bacterial benefits of essential oils because of the lower reported incidences of diseases in lavender flower-growing regions of the south of France.

Essential oils have been incorporated into daily care and trusted around the world for many centuries. Unlike passing trends in any field of interest or concern, essential oils trend has not wavered in their use and reliability.
